    Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda’s son Mr H.D. Revanna with Rs 103.78 crore. Under the category of candidates who have shown a significant rise in assets since 2004, the assets of Mr Dinesh Gundu Rao of the Congress went up by 31,526 per cent, Mr H.D. Revanna’s by 5,902.7 per cent and the BJP’s R. Ashok by 2,604 per cent.

    The report stated that the average increase of the assets of these candidates between the 2004 election and this election is as huge as 677 per cent.

    A large number of candidates are accused of violent crimes like murder, attempt to murder and assault with deadly weapons. The Dal(S) is fielding 13 candidates facing criminal charges. It is closely followed by the BJP with 12 candidates, the Congress with 10 candidates, the BSP with nine and the JD(U), KCVP and SP a candidate each.

    The report has compared the financial records with 2004 data. The KEWC has said the total assets of all the JD(S) candidates have increased by 1,292 per cent while the BSP candidates’ assets have gone up by 573 per cent and the Congress candidates’ assets by 561 per cent.
